Jewelry making in the 50s

Did you know that as early as in the 1950s jewelry making was already a highly lucrative hobby niche?

Here is the story of a policeman who found himself a new hobby and finally gave up police work in favour of becoming a full time costume jeweler. You can read here the full story. Now that's what I call a change in gears.

I think jewelry making has always been popular - beads are thought to be 80,000 years old. It must be the world's oldest hobby!!

Yep, you are so right, it is indeed! What I really found interesting and worth noting was that even back in the 50s people were leaving their regular job to start in new ventures, on their own, like this policeman and jewelry. Gave me hope, I guess :)
